I was trying to actually put a photo of the kitties on my blog. It didn't work. So I still have a few things to learn about making this blog look the way I want it too.

Here I am at the end of 23 Things. There are a few things I just skimmed through and really want to go back and work with. Flickr is one I think I will use quite a bit now that I've got 23 Things out of the way. The favorites wikki was a lot of fun. I'd like to do some more of that.
All in all 23 Things has been great. It opened up a whole new world for me. Some of it I'll leave where I found it. Some of it I'll really use. Who knows, some of it that I think I won't use might end up being my favorite stuff someday.
Downloading e books - Setting up an account is fast and easy. The computer I checked the ebook out on has all the necessary software, so the process was super easy. I had actually downloaded one before I even realized it. Again, I'd much rather hold the real book in my hands and read it curled up someplace quiet. But for folks that would rather be in front of a computer screen than anywhere else, e books will be welcome technology.

I just checked out some podcasts. Seems like someone who always needed to be listening to stuff would really like podcasts. I'm not that person. A book, quiet, and a cup of tea are what make me happy. Back to the podcasts. Pretty much anything a person might be interested in seemed to be covered.
Today I explored Lulu, under the award list for books. I found a cookbook by a serial killer. Hmm. That's crazy. But interesting to me, as I read lots of mysteries and cookbooks too.
So I did find that awards list useful for myself and I think it would be useful for regular library use too.

The on-line word processing is fantastic for people who use public computers. We've got an online calendar for our branch which seems to work well. Everyone has access to it from home or work.

I had fun with the sandbox of favorite things. It was fun to see everyone else's favorites. That was one of my favorites in the whole 23 Things.
I just explored wikkis. I really liked the one for book lovers. The others seemed kind of dry. The format doesn't appeal to me. The information is what's important, but if it isn't appealing to look at in the first place, I probably won't spend much time with it. But, once again, wikkis are a good thing to know about and now I do know about them.
It's almost the end of this year. Another year. It's nice to be able to look back and know that I've been learning new things this year. I explored some new web stuff and really didn't get too interested in it. But now I know it's there and if I need it in the future, I'll know where to find it. I believe that knowledge is cumulative and that just about all learning is good and useful, so even though I don't care much for a lot of this, I know it's important to learn.
It's sort of hard reading about the future of libraries, as I would love to work in a library where all the information is in books. Oh well. That isn't going to happen, so going thru 23 Things is good.

Snowflakes

http://www.zefrank.com/snowflake/

This is a fun site for those of us that love making snowflakes.
My wonderful and very patient co-worker just taught me how to get the link on my blog. So I've learned something new today. I love that!

I worked with Rollyo a little bit last week, but didn't really get much out of it. There are other things we've learned about that I enjoyed alot more. Onward!

I forgot to post about the patron that helped me learn about YouTube. One of our teen patrons asked me if I'd like to see his videos on YouTube. They're really cute, singing cartoon type videos. Bless his heart for getting me to YouTube. That would normally be the last thing I'm interested in, but this patron pulled me in. Thank you!!!!!
I expect to see a complete list of Formula One books come up soon on Library Thing!!!
I just signed up for Library Thing. Seems like fun. Didn't have time to browse the lists. Just started listing books by favorite authors that haven't been published yet and that I want to request. This one was easy for me because it's about books. I think this is one of the 23 things that I'll use the most.

Well, one thing is I really like the bright yellow font on today's posts. One small step....
Today I managed to subscribe to an RSS feed. It took me forever to get the thing done, but I finally did it. This stuff takes lots of practice , which means lots of time. Ok, one step at a time. And today I got one stip done. Hooray!

I'm writing this and trying to figure out what to say at the same time. Making the blog was fun and fast. Now I feel kind of stumped. I haven't had a chance to load more pictures into my flickr account and haven't had a chance to start really sharing pictures with anyone else. I think once I get past that I'll feel more like I've accomplished something. I want to get back to that place where I was so excited to be learning new stuff. Maybe getting this written will help. I'm going to see if I can put a picture of my kitties on here too. The kitties always cheer me up.
Trying to get a picture on this post is taking too much time and is frustrating. I will try again later.

First Post

The epiphany (first one) was that I was interested in doing this at all. I'm the one that was going to search the world for a library that didn't use computers.
The second epiphany was that I might be uninterested in some things just because I don't know about them yet, or haven't experienced them. So, now I want to learn just about anything there is to learn because it might be at least as fun and interesting as these 23 things seem to be.
I have to agree with Rachel about not wanting to blather on and on though and talk with who knows who from who knows where.
However, this empty page really invites blathering!
